If PSG publicly displays an image of being tough on Kylian Mbappé, it is looking behind the scenes for a solution. Luis Campos is reported to have met with his representatives on Tuesday.
What will happen to Kylian Mbappé when the new season starts? According to public statements by Paris Saint-Germain, the player who refused to activate the option on his third year of contract could not be aligned by Luis Enrique.
But behind the scenes, things may be less clear-cut than that. According to information relayed by Mundo Deportivo, the Paris leaders and representatives of Kylian Mbappé met later than Tuesday.
The line would not be completely broken between the French attacker’s clan and the PSG leadership. To advance this, the Spanish media relied on a report from RMC referring to the meeting that took place on Tuesday between Parisian football adviser Luis Campos and the Bondynois agents.
During this meeting, a new renewal offer would have been made. The outline of the new contract would include a further salary increase and the addition of a release clause for June 2024 allowing Kylian Mbappé to leave Paris in the event of an offer of up to €200 million.
All of this would have been rejected once again by representatives of the 2018 World Champion. This will further strain relations between the two parties.
In the meantime, Paris Saint-Germain continues to work on its mercato and particularly strengthens its offensive sector. Not a really good sign for Kylian Mbappé.
