Syria: Woman Arrested for Brutally Torturing Stepdaughter
Security forces in the Syrian capital, Damascus, have arrested a woman who brutally tortured her husband’s 5-year-old daughter.
The woman caused severe injuries to the child, who was admitted to the hospital in critical condition after suffering internal bleeding in the brain due to continuous assault.
The Ministry of Interior confirmed in a statement on its Facebook account that the child, named “Bara’a,” born in 2019, was brought to the hospital after being rescued by her father, grandmother, and stepmother while unconscious.
Her relatives claimed that the child fell from a bed in their home in the Sayyida Zeinab area of Damascus.
However, the medical report revealed several bruises, abrasions, and fractures all over the child’s body, along with internal bleeding in the brain, indicating a very serious health condition.
After investigations, inconsistencies in the relatives’ statements emerged, and it was proven that the stepmother had been physically abusing and beating the child all over her body with a wooden stick, leading to her complete loss of consciousness.
The woman confessed to her crime, stating that she assaulted the child while her husband was at work and absent from the house.
The woman was arrested and referred to the judiciary to take necessary legal actions against her.
