Terrorist attack targets security patrol in northern Iraq
Iraqi media said at dawn on Friday that a federal police convoy was attacked in the northern province of Kirkouk.
“An armed attack targeted a convoy of federal policemen in Kirkouk’s Tea Valley,” a security source said.
“The attack caused an unknown number of casualties,” the source said.
Earlier this year, Iraqi authorities thwarted a terrorist plan to target Kirkuk province.
About 3 years ago, Iraq declared the elimination of ISIS after undermining its capabilities, which had occupied 2014 large areas of Syria and Iraq.
In recent years, the terrorist organization, whose leader was killed in a in a qualitative American operation in Syria last year, has sought to regroup and launch terrorist attacks in an attempt to prove its presence, which was met by Iraqi military operations to pursue its members.
