Tragedy of the Soran fire.. The number of victims rises to 15, and mourning for 3 days in Erbil 


The death toll from the dormitory fire at Soran University in the city of Erbil, northern Iraq, has risen to 15 deaths and 14 injuries.

The Civil Defense Directorate in Soran announced the control of the fire that broke out in the student residence at Soran University, indicating an increase in the number of victims to 15 deaths and 14 injuries.

Meanwhile, the administration of Soran district declared a 3-day mourning on Saturday in sympathy for the souls of the victims of the fire tragedy that engulfed the internal sections of the building housing students and professors of Soran University.

The Ministry of Interior in the Kurdistan Regional Government of Iraq formed a committee to investigate the Soran fire tragedy, under the direction of the Regional Government President Masrour Barzani.

The committee was tasked with investigating the causes of the fire, the safety conditions in the building, and determining the responsible party. The committee is chaired by Brigadier Taha Akreyi, the head of the Civil Defense Institute.
