Turkey would send delegation to Egypt next month
Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu stated on Thursday that a Turkish delegation would visit Egypt during the next month in the context of Ankara’s efforts to repair relations.
Cavusoglu informed the private NTV broadcaster: Egypt invited a delegation from Turkey. The delegation will go in early May, adding: We will discuss openly how to normalize relations.
Turkey and Egypt ties perturbation
It should indicate that Turkey and Egypt blocked relations after the 2013 coup of ex-president Mohamed Morsi, who made close relations ties with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, when the two countries excluded each other’s’ ambassadors and Cairo had announced that the Turkish envoy persona non welcomed. However, last month, Turkish officials noted that Ankara had created the first diplomatic links with Cairo since 2013.
On Thursday, Cavusoglu stated that the first delegation discussions would be at the level of deputy foreign ministers, before a contact between the ministers. He also said: I hope we will all together further improve relations, adding that a gathering with Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry would occurred after those discussions.
