UAE condemns Houthi targeting of Saudi Arabia: to undermine regional stability

The United Arab Emirates on Friday condemned the Houthi terrorist militia’s attempts to target civilians in a systematic and deliberate manner in southern Saudi Arabia.

It also deplored attempts to target the Khamis Mushait area of Saudi Arabia through a booby-trapped drone, which was intercepted by Arab coalition forces.

“The continuation of these terrorist attacks by the Al-Houthi group reflects its flagrant defiance of the international community and its disregard for all international laws and norms,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation said in a statement.

The Ministry urged the international community to take an immediate and decisive stance to stop these repeated acts targeting vital and civilian installations, the security of the Kingdom, energy supplies and the stability of the world economy.

The recent continuation of these attacks is a dangerous escalation and further evidence that these militias are seeking to undermine security and stability in the region, she said.

The Ministry reiterated the UAE’s full solidarity with the Kingdom in the face of these terrorist attacks and its support for all measures taken to preserve the security and safety of its citizens and residents.

The statement stressed that the security of the United Arab Emirates and that of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is indivisible, and that any threat or danger facing the Kingdom is considered by the State as a threat to the security and stability of the Kingdom.

“At dawn on Friday, the Arab coalition announced the interception and destruction of an aircraft that had been rigged with explosives by Houthi militias towards the town of Khamis Mushait.”

The Houthi militia has been targeting civilians in Saudi Arabia with missiles or booby-trapped aircraft that coalition forces are able to intercept and destroy.

Al-Houthi attacks on civilian areas have drawn condemnation from Arabs and the international community, saying their continuation undermines the resolution of the Yemeni crisis.
