14 Killed in Building Fire in Hanoi, Vietnam’s Capital


At least 14 people were killed and 3 others injured in a fire that broke out in a densely populated residential area of Hanoi early Friday morning.

The Ministry of Public Security said in a statement that firefighters managed to rescue 7 people from the fire, which occurred in a five-story building located in a narrow alley in the Vietnamese capital.

The ministry stated that it is investigating the causes of the fire, and the victims’ identities have not yet been determined.

In September of last year, a fire in a residential building in Hanoi resulted in at least 56 deaths, including children, and 37 injuries.
