Tunisia: Angry Tunisians shook Ghannouchi’s home demanding justice

Angry human crowds began marching towards the house of the leader of the Muslim Brotherhood in Tunis on the outskirts of the capital as part of a “day of gathering” targeting the head of the terrorist organization.

Crowds began arriving on the surroundings of Ghannouchi’s house, in a move called for by the defense committee for the two martyrs, Chokri Belaid and Mohamed Brahmi.
The protesters raised Tunisian flags, banners with pictures of Belaid and Brahmi, and chanted anti-Brotherhood slogans and its arms.

The protest came after Ghannouchi’s notebooks were revealed during a press conference held on Wednesday by the defense committee of Belaid and Brahmi, during which evidence and documents obtained from the Tunisian military intelligence showed the involvement of the Brotherhood leader in crimes related to security, intelligence and money laundering.

As protesters continue to gather around Ghannouchi’s house after his facade has become crowded, the Brotherhood’s Ennahdha movement, which said in a statement on Friday night that it had sent official letters to the Tunisian presidency, the Interior Ministry and the Defense Ministry to hold them accountable for protecting the movement’s president, Rached Ghannouchi, his family, supporters and headquarters, is perplexed.

The Movement believed that the conference was intended to incite against Rached Ghannouchi by calling for a march toward his home in Montplaisir.

Fear and confusion after the crack of the ground under the feet of Ghannouchi, who is accused by documents and evidence of fighting against the security of his country in the interest of the outside in order to stay in power and continue his influence more.

In this context, the level of popular anger rises, reaching its peak on Saturday, after two days of protests in front of the headquarters of the Supreme Judicial Council, demanding to hold the Brotherhood and its leader accountable for their crimes against the country and to open a judicial investigation that threatens to put an end to the branch of the terrorist organization.

Hundreds of Tunisians protested in front of the council headquarters against the cover-up of the assassination cases and in support of the decision to dissolve it. They also demanded that Ghannouchi be interrogated and placed under house arrest, and that Ennahdha and its leaders be held responsible for terrorist operations.

Redha Radawi, a member of the defense committee of Chokri Belaid and Mohamed Brahmi, said, “The committee was informed after its press conference held on Wednesday, during which evidence and documents were presented condemning Ghannouchi, by opening two investigation searches against the latter in the Financial Pole (a competent court) in order to receive suspicious funds and exchange them”.

Radawi added that an investigation was also opened with the military judiciary in terms of intelligence and espionage with foreign parties, noting that Ghannouchi will be heard as a defendant in relation to the money that was paid to him by the Amiri Diwan of the State of Qatar, which was confirmed by the existing statements, and the defense committee worked to verify its accuracy.

During a press conference on Wednesday, the defense team revealed that it had documents revealing the involvement of Ennahdha Brotherhood leader Ghannouchi in contact with foreign parties.
The committee also pointed out that there were documents indicating that Ghannouchi was involved in an attack on the security of the Tunisian state, accusing him of money laundering with his son, Mouad, in addition to the existence of a secret financial service related to him.
