After exposing its crimes… Ennahdha Movement tries to influence the Tunisians

The Muslim Brotherhood’s Ennahdha Movement has called for supporters to come out in a demonstration today, in an attempt to show its strength in the Tunisian street in front of its political opponents, and to refute the accusations leveled against it and its leader Rached Ghannouchi by the defense of Belaid and Brahmi last week.

The Brotherhood has ignored the fact that its popularity was at rock bottom; because of the revelations made by the defense of espionage, crimes, violations, and money laundering, and that the Tunisian people are now aware of the reality of the movement’s hidden activities.

In a statement posted on its Facebook page, the Tunisia’s Ennahdha Movement called on its supporters yesterday to participate strongly in a protest to be organized today in the center of the capital, in protest against President Kais Saied’s announcement of the dissolution of the Supreme Judicial Council.

The movement said: “In response to citizens’ call against the coup, “the democratic initiative”, Ennahdha calls on its fighters and all national forces to participate strongly in the protest to be held today on Mohamed V Street (City of Culture)”.

“Citizens Against the Coup” initiative called for demonstrations today under the slogan “Liberating the Council from the power of the coup”, in protest against President Kais Saied’s announcement of the dissolution of the Supreme Judicial Council.

On Monday, President Saied announced the dissolution of the Supreme Judicial Council, adding in a televised broadcast by the presidency: “The draft resolution of the council is ready, and it will be discussed”.

The Supreme Judicial Council is an independent constitutional body whose functions include ensuring the independence of the judiciary, holding judges accountable and granting them professional promotions.

The decision to dissolve the parliament came after Saied made a statement during a visit to the Interior Ministry, where he said: The case of the martyr Chokri Belaid was manipulated by some judges.
During the visit, the Tunisian president criticized the judiciary and accused a number of its judges and advisors of corruption, nepotism, and disruption of proceedings in several cases, including political assassinations.

The defense committee for the martyrs, Belaid and Brahmi, confirmed in a televised press conference last week that there were documents revealing the involvement of the Ennahdha Movement, the Muslim Brotherhood, and its leader, Rached Ghannouchi, in damaging assassination case files and in communicating with a foreign country.

The committee confirmed the existence of documents confirming Ghannouchi’s involvement in the attack on the internal security of the state, pointing out that Ghannouchi and his group “blocked all the tracks of uncovering the truth, and all the paths leading to an official indictment of Ghannouchi”.
