UAE condemns Afghanistan attacks: ‘We reject violence’

The United Arab Emirates strongly condemned the two terrorist attacks in Afghanistan, one targeting a mosque in north-eastern Afghanistan and the other a Sikh temple in Kabul, which resulted in the death and injury of a number of innocent people.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the United Arab Emirates expresses its strong condemnation of these criminal acts and its permanent rejection of all forms of violence and terrorism aimed at destabilizing security and stability and contrary to humanitarian values and principles.

The Ministry expressed its sincere condolences to the friendly Afghan people, the families and relatives of the victims of these heinous crimes, and wished a speedy recovery to all the injured.

On Friday, an independent Afghan news agency said an explosion targeted worshippers at the Imam Sahib mosque in the northeastern province of Kunduz.

“An explosion took place at a mosque in Imam Sahib District in Kunduz city during Friday prayers,” Amaj News quoted local sources as saying, adding that “according to preliminary information, there are a number of dead and wounded.”

Afghanistan has been witnessing unstable security conditions since the Taliban took control of the country in mid-August, coinciding with the withdrawal of US and foreign troops.
