After Ghannouchi appears in Court.. Is Tunisia’s Muslim Brotherhood over? Analysts answer
A state of turmoil and confusion prevails in the ranks of the Ennahdha Brotherhood Movement, as the leader of that terrorist movement is being investigated on many charges and crimes, the most important of which are the crimes of money laundering and supporting terrorism in Tunisia and the region.
The Tunisian security services have intensified their security presence in front of the judicial counter-terrorism pole in Tunis, with the installation of many iron barriers at the entrances leading to the pole, coinciding with the arrival of a number of supporters of the Ennahdha movement, to implement a stand in support of the president of the Ennahdha movement. The Financial Analysis Committee had previously authorized Tunisian banks to freeze the funds of Ghannouchi, his son and son-in-law Rafik Abdessalem, and the former secretary-general of the movement Hamadi Jebali and his two daughters.
The session of investigation with Ghannouchi comes about a week before the holding of a referendum on a new constitution for the country, in light of the refusal of many Tunisian political parties to participate in the referendum, in opposition to Tunisian President Kais Saied.
The Public Prosecution decided to open an investigation against former and current officials of the “Association of Tunisia’s Development” charitable organization for the crimes of money laundering and money laundering and the suspected financing of persons or organizations linked to terrorism, whether inside or outside Tunisian territory. Ghannouchi was summoned by the investigating judge, and Ghannouchi was summoned as a suspect in the case, along with his son Moaz Ghannouchi, his son-in-law, former Foreign Minister Rafik Abdessalem, and former Prime Minister Hamadi Jebali, who was arrested recently, and released to remain in the investigation of the same case.
As for what the Brotherhood Ennahdha Movement is witnessing, Dr. Oussama Aouidet, a Tunisian political analyst, said that the terrorist Ennahdha Movement is witnessing a state of unrest with the charges being brought against its leaders, foremost among them Rached Ghannouchi, the leader of the terrorist movement, in addition to his son and a number of the leaders of the Muslim Brotherhood movement.
The Tunisian political analyst added: He added that Tunisia is currently purging this Brotherhood organization that seeks to destroy the Tunisian state, pointing out that the charges brought against Ghannouchi and the leaders of Ennahdha are a revelation of the truth of that Brotherhood movement that seeks to spread corruption and terrorism over the past years and the current period as well.
Tunisian political analyst Mondher Guefrach said that the Muslim Brotherhood’s Ennahdha Movement was involved through a “secret organization” in assassinating Tunisian opposition members and receiving funds of unknown origin. He added that the current period of prosecutions and trials revealed a lot about Ennahdha in the charges against them.
The political analyst added: that the street now refuses the presence of this movement in the scene again, and it has become a forever-ending movement for the Tunisian street.
Tunisian media had said: The first investigating judge in the 23rd Judicial Bureau of the Anti-Terrorism Judicial Branch, decided to question Ennahdha President Rached Ghannouchi as an accused in the investigation case concerning the Association Namaa Tunisia, or the so-called financial secret service, where he is being prosecuted on charges of terrorism and money laundering, on Tuesday, clarifying that the Central Unit for Combating Terrorism and Crimes Affecting the Integrity of the National Territory informed Ghannouchi of the summons addressed to him.
