Iran condemned to death an Iranian Kurdish political
An Iranian Kurdish political prisoner, Haydar Ghorbani, who is condemned to death by Iran, the highest judicial authority of Tehran refused his appeal for a retrial.
It should be noted that Ghorbani was detained along with his brother-in-law in 2016 on accusations of cooperating and assisting in the case of kill many members of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), and also its membership in the opposition group the Democratic Party of Iranian Kurdistan (PDKI).
Over the years, western areas populated by Kurdish in Iran have lived many confrontations between the Iranian military and Iranian Kurdish militant groups
The lawyer informed Voice of America Persian that the Supreme trial of Iran, which last month approved the death sentence of Ghorbani, rejected a demand by the lawyer of Ghorbani for a retrial for his client earlier this month.
This situation has created fear in Iranian activists as Ghorbani could be the second political prisoner to be condemned to death within the same month, after the recent condemnation of champion wrestler Navid Afkari. Therefore, Iranians have used social media to protest against the death sentence of Ghorbani, using the hashtag #SaveHaydarGhorbani.
State-run television Press TV of Iran had reported in a previous time the claimed confessions of Ghorbani, while his family member refused his charges and declared that he has been forced into making false confessions under torture.
