The UAE establishes a field hospital in Gaza to treat the wounded

A convoy consisting of about 200 aid trucks, the largest daily entry into the Gaza Strip since the initial Israeli airstrikes on October 7, entered the sector that was bombed on Friday morning after a four-day ceasefire between Israel and Hamas. At the forefront of the aid were the equipment for building a Emirati field hospital in the sector, according to “The National” international magazine.

Flow of aid

An official stationed at the crossing stated that seven fuel tankers also entered Gaza. He added that Egyptian ambulances also entered, and it is expected that they will return with the wounded in Gaza from the airstrikes. The injured are expected to receive treatment in Egypt.

The international magazine continued that aid vehicles are expected to make their way from Rafah to the nearby border crossing of Al-Awja, where Israeli officials will inspect them before making their way to Gaza.

A spokesperson for the Rafah border crossing administration stated that about 230 trucks are expected to enter Gaza by the end of Friday, adding that around 100 Palestinian wounded are expected to be evacuated from the sector by the end of the day.

Field hospital

The magazine explained that enough medical equipment to establish a field hospital in Gaza has entered the sector. The UAE sent all the equipment in preparation for building a field hospital in the sector.

It further stated that the UAE had earlier announced that it would establish a field hospital in the Gaza Strip as part of its humanitarian initiative “The Gallant Knight 3“.

It pointed out that the hospital will include 150 beds and units for general surgery, orthopedic surgery, pediatric medicine, women’s diseases for adults and children, in addition to facilities for dentistry, psychiatry, family medicine, and internal medicine.

Dozens of aid-laden trucks began arriving at the Rafah border crossing since Wednesday in anticipation of a ceasefire brokered by the United States, Qatar, and Egypt.

The first cessation of hostilities since the start of the war 48 days ago will include a ceasefire in all sectors of the Gaza Strip, the release of 50 Israelis held by Hamas, to be released in stages during the four days of the ceasefire. In return, 150 Palestinian prisoners will be released from Israeli prisons.

Reuters reported that Hamas is expected to release 13 Israeli women and children later today.

The deal included a significant increase in the distribution of daily aid, which totaled about 500 daily before the war on Gaza began.
