Islamic organizations launch a campaign against the American president… Why?

Due to the “unlimited” support he expresses for Israel in its war on Gaza, American Islamic civil organizations have launched a campaign called “Abandon Biden” across the United States, coinciding with the upcoming 2024 presidential elections.

On the last day of the “MAS-ISNA” conference, one of the largest annual gatherings of Islamic organizations in the United States, a joint press conference was held in Chicago (northeast), where some Islamic organizations announced the redirection of their efforts previously launched in some states to a new campaign nationwide.

In their campaign titled “Abandon Biden,” Islamic organizations targeted President Biden and urged American Muslims not to vote for him in the upcoming presidential elections scheduled for November 5, according to what was reported by the Anadolu Agency. Organizations that encouraged campaigns against Biden, especially in the “swing states” that will determine the fate of the elections, accused the American president of “complicity in the genocide in Gaza.”

The spokesperson for the campaign, Professor Hassan Abdul Salam, said in the press conference: “We are running a campaign against the president, and the main idea here is to campaign against him and make sure he loses the 2024 elections.”

He added: “President Biden has betrayed us because he has disregarded the dignity of human life in Gaza. What does it mean to vote for someone when (2.2) million Gazans cannot even access water?” Abdul Salam also clarified that they do not intend to vote for potential Biden competitor Donald Trump, saying, “We want someone who takes into account the fundamental rights and values upon which the United States is built to be president.”

A study by the Pew Research Center on the 2020 elections showed that about 60% of American Muslims who participated in the vote cast their votes for Biden.

Earlier, the Associated Press reported that Democrats in Michigan had warned the White House that Biden’s handling of Israel’s war on Gaza could cost him significant support among Arab Americans, potentially changing the outcome of next year’s presidential elections.
