Over 130 People Trapped in the “Tibet” Region Between China and Nepal

Chinese state media reported that more than 130 people, including tourists, have been trapped in the “Tibet” region near the Chinese border in the rugged Himalayan mountains with Nepal on Wednesday.

This came after continuous rains caused landslides and floods, leading to road closures, according to “Reuters”.

The media stated that several parts of the main highway leading to the remote town of “Chentang” in the region were either swept away by floods or blocked by landslides amid continuous rainfall since Sunday.

Rescuers have so far evacuated 342 stranded people to other towns.

State media reported that at least 130 people, including tourists, are still trapped near “Chentang”, which is located at an altitude of about 2000 meters (6562 feet), due to the rains, road closures, and the “lack of physical strength” needed by the stranded people to cover long distances.
