The Yemeni Marib massacre… Washington condemns the Houthis crimes
The US embassy in Yemen condemned on Tuesday a missile attack by the Houthi rebel militia on a residential neighborhood in Marib province.
“We strongly condemn the rocket attack on a residential neighborhood in Marib that killed civilians including a child,” said Cathy Westley, acting US ambassador to Yemen.
“In the city of Marib, Houthi-backed militias struck a residential neighborhood with two ballistic missiles, killing and wounding 13 civilians.”
“The time has come to end the conflict in Yemen and provide relief to the people,” the acting US ambassador said.
In a brief statement posted on the embassy’s Twitter account, Cathy Westley stressed the need for a ceasefire by Houthi militias.
“The Houthis must accept a ceasefire and enter negotiations,” she said.
“Houthi militias are refusing a ceasefire in preparation for peace negotiations to end the war and coup, and the militia is setting impossible conditions to thwart all international peace moves in Yemen.”
