Sissi: We understand the demands of development in Ethiopia but not at the expense of others
Egyptian media published a video released by the Egyptian presidency, which shows President Abdel Fattah al-Sissi organizing a luncheon in honor of Egypt’s guests following the opening of the 3 July naval base in Jirjoub.
President al-Sissi addressed the developments of Al-Nahda Dam, stressing that “the Egyptian state appreciates and understands the requirements of development in Ethiopia, but with the need for development not to be at the expense of others.”
“Egypt is trying to reach a legally binding agreement in accordance with international norms and principles, and negotiations with Ethiopia should not continue indefinitely,” he said.
He pointed out that Egypt has never threatened anyone in history, despite the fact that it has a military force from which a small part appeared in the maneuver “Qader 2021.”
The Egyptian president concluded his speech by thanking friendly countries that are making efforts to mediate the issue of Al-Nahda dam, because of the importance of the issue to the Egyptian people.
Earlier on Saturday, President al-Sissi inaugurated the “3 July” base, in the presence of guests from Egypt, leaders of the main branches of the armed forces and senior statesmen.
The state-run Middle East News Agency reported that the Egyptian flag had been raised over the naval units; A sign of her entry into service in the Navy.
President al-Sissi and a number of Egyptian guests also witnessed part of the military maneuver “Qader 2021” to protect development projects at sea, with the participation of various combat units from the Egyptian army.
