Al-Hajraf’s remarks during meeting of Gulf foreign ministers in Riyadh

On Wednesday, Gulf Cooperation Council Secretary-General Nayef al-Hajraf stated that any future negotiations with Iran should cover its ballistic missiles and nuclear file.

During a gathering of Gulf foreign ministers in Riyadh, al-Hajraf also said that Iran continues to support the Houthi militias and destabilize the region. Indeed, the gathering’s aim was to follow the execution of the agreements reached at the AlUla summit that was held in Saudi Arabia in January.

About Yemen, al-Hajraf indicated that the council backs efforts of the legitimate authority to find solution for the crisis there following the three references, which are the Gulf initiative, national dialogue and United Nations Security Council resolution 2216.

Furthermore, al-Hajraf stressed the necessity to activate the common military mechanism of the GCC, affirming that the council supports Saudi Arabia and all the measures it takes to preserve its security. He also affirmed that the security of Gulf States is indivisible.

About the Palestinian-Israeli dispute, al-Hajraf noted that the Palestinian issue stills the top priority for the Arab world and that a Palestinian state should be established based on the 1967 borders.
