Houthis Torture a Young Man to Death for Refusing to Join Their Training… Details

The Houthi coup militia in Sanaa killed a teenage boy after torturing him for refusing to join one of their training programs for recruitment.

The Director of the Human Rights Office in the capital secretariat, Fahmi Al-Zubairi, stated: “The Houthi militia killed the teenager Raddad Saleh Ghalib in the Nihm district, east of Sanaa, after he refused to participate in their sectarian training sessions and be recruited”.

In a post on his personal account on the X platform, Al-Zubairi wrote: “The Houthis brutally tortured him to death.”

Not only did they commit this heinous act, but the Houthis also concealed his body, refusing to hand it over to his family for burial, attempting to pressure them into accepting tribal arbitration, according to Al-Zubairi.

He further noted that Houthi leader Ali Al-Saqqaf is the one leading the efforts to pressure the family into accepting arbitration. However, the family adamantly refuses and demands that legal procedures be followed.

The Houthis force all segments of society—regardless of age, gender, or social status—to participate in their ideological (cultural) training and compulsory military recruitment.

Numerous reports from United Nations agencies and local human rights organizations reveal that thousands of children have been forcibly conscripted in Houthi-controlled areas of Yemen.

According to multiple human rights monitoring centers, the number of children forcibly recruited by the Houthi militia exceeds 7,000.
