Iran Provokes U.S. before Nuclear Dialog Begins

The Pentagon expressed yesterday evening its alarm at the approach of an Iranian helicopter to a U.S. warship in the Gulf of Oman, in what appeared to be an Iranian provocation and show of force.

A new round of indirect nuclear negotiations between the United States and Iran will begin in Vienna on November 29, the first under Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi. The round of negotiations will begin in an atmosphere of mistrust between the two parties.

Meanwhile, the Pentagon said: An Iranian helicopter’s approach to a U.S. warship in the Gulf of Oman is dangerous; because it may lead to miscalculations, according to the Mena Observatory.

“The U.S. Department said an Iranian Navy helicopter approached and circled a U.S. Navy warship in the Gulf of Oman three times, an incident that ended without impact on U.S. operations”.

Spokesman John Kirby said: The Iranian aircraft flew 25 yards (about 23 meters) from the Essex warship, confirming that “this is a serious matter; It could lead to miscalculations“.

Iranian media outlets also published pictures of an Iranian helicopter approaching an American frigate in the Gulf.
