Turks among most nationalities seeking asylum in Europe… Details
Turkey has recently seen a high demand for immigration to Europe by its citizens, particularly educated people and medical workers, due to poor living conditions, low salaries, and the economic crises in the country caused by the policies of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and his ruling party.
According to a European report, Turks came in fourth place in terms of asylum applications in EU countries.
The Eurostat Center said: “The number of Turks wanting to emigrate from Turkey has increased since the 2016 coup attempt, with increased repression and security crackdowns, Turkish newspaper Zaman reported.
According to the Center, the number of first-time asylum seekers in EU countries increased by 66% compared to April 2012, and decreased by 28% compared to March 2022.
Eurostat attributes the decrease in applications to the decrease in the number of Ukrainians. According to the data, 54,145 asylum applications were submitted to EU countries in April 2022.
According to reports, Afghans are nationals of the countries that have submitted the highest number of asylum applications to EU countries, with 7,255 Afghan nationals applying for asylum in EU countries, followed by Syrian Afghans who submitted 6,485 applications, Colombians who submitted 3,655 applications and Turks who submitted 2,600 applications.
In the first month of 2022, 197 doctors applied for a certificate of good conduct and conduct to travel abroad. The number of doctors wishing to leave the country, which was 1,405 in 2021, is about 2,000 this year, according to Ahval Turkey.
