WhatsApp Tests New Feature for Media Upload Failures

WhatsApp, no longer just a messaging app, has become a popular platform for sharing photos and videos worldwide. Recently, the app allowed users to share high-definition (HD) photos, enhancing the overall experience.

However, this can sometimes be inconvenient as WhatsApp doesn’t notify users if media uploads fail or pause. Fortunately, WhatsApp is working on a solution.

New Notification Feature

WhatsApp is testing a new notification feature designed to improve the user experience by keeping users informed about the status of their media uploads. This feature, introduced in the latest beta version of WhatsApp for iOS, aims to notify users immediately if their media uploads are paused or fail, without needing to open the app to check.

With this new feature, users will receive real-time updates about their media upload statuses. For example, if an upload is interrupted due to connectivity issues or switching to another app, users will receive a notification indicating which photo or video is affected.

A notification like “Upload paused, open the app to resume sending” will alert users to the interruption, allowing them to take immediate action to resume the upload.

Previously, users often didn’t realize their uploads had paused or failed until they reopened WhatsApp, causing delays in sharing important media. With this new system, users will receive instant alerts about any interruptions or failures in their uploads, ensuring they are always informed and can address these issues without delay.

The notification feature is currently available to some beta testers who have installed the latest version of WhatsApp Beta for iOS and is expected to be rolled out to more users in the coming weeks.
