Football: Islam Slimani looking for a new club

Persona non grata at Sporting Lisbon, Islam Slimani is called to find another club, writes the Algerian daily Competition.

According to a site dedicated to the great club of Lisbon, courtiers are not scrambling for the Algerian center-forward which must first free itself from Sporting, stresses the same source.

This outcome is not for tomorrow since the negotiations for the termination of his contract have been blocked for several days due to the lack of an agreement between the two parties.

However, in order to terminate his contract, Islam Slimani had to reduce his salary. After halving his annual salary when he arrived at Sporting this winter, when he was earning 3 million euros net at Olympique Lyonnais, he had to make great sacrifices when he returned to Sporting Lisbon (we are talking about an annual salary of 1.6 million euros), according to Competition.

But his ratings dropped dramatically after his setbacks in the spring following his shunning of the first team.

Slimani must realize that besides his age (34) and his sporting situation, he must make financial concessions. If he deigns to do so, he will immediately be hired by a European club (Nottingham Forest, Fenarbahçe??). Otherwise, his dream to continue playing in the old continent will never be fulfilled, concludes the Algerian newspaper.
