Qatari emir discusses Libya developments with Aguila Saleh

Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani on Sunday discussed the situation in Libya with Aguila Saleh and his delegation.

According to the Qatar News Agency, Aguila Saleh Issa, the Emir of Qatar, was briefed on the latest developments in Libya.

“Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad reiterated his country’s position towards the brotherly Libyan people, support their choices and achieve their aspirations for development and prosperity for the sake of Libya’s unity and stability,” the news agency said.

During the meeting, the two sides also discussed “aspects of developing and enhancing cooperation between the two countries, and discussed current developments in Libya, in addition to a number of regional and international issues,” the agency said.

Aguila Saleh, speaker of the Libyan parliament, arrived in Doha on Saturday for the first visit of its kind in years.

Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani met with outgoing Libyan Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibeh in Doha on Thursday.

Libya has been embroiled in a conflict between two governments: the first is the government of Fathi Bashagha, appointed by the House of Representatives last March, and the second is the outgoing government of national unity, headed by Abdul Hamid Dbeibeh, who refuses to hand over power.
