Turkey: Dozens of Flights Canceled Due to “Severe” Weather Conditions

Turkish Airlines (THY) announced the cancellation of 38 flights, both departing from and arriving at Istanbul Airport, on Saturday due to expected severe weather conditions in Istanbul.

According to an official statement released by the local channel (NTV), the decision includes the cancellation of 10 domestic flights and 28 international flights.

The decision follows warnings from meteorological services predicting the continuation of strong southwestern winds affecting the city.

Yahya Ustun, the press advisor for Turkish Airlines, stated that this measure was in response to a directive from the Meteorological Emergency Committee to reduce flight capacity by 10% due to the anticipated storm. The cancellations apply to flights scheduled for November 23, 2024.
