Sudanese Demand an End to the Violations of the Muslim Brotherhood Brigades


Residents of the village of (Al-Shiqiq) in the rural area of Singa, located in the Sinnar state of Sudan, have called on the armed forces to intervene and stop the violations committed by the (Al-Baraa Brigades) against the local community.

According to a statement reported by the newspaper (Al-Rakuba), the residents stated that the Muslim Brotherhood had arrested and tortured 22 citizens, killing two others under torture on charges of collaborating with the Rapid Support Forces, a crime punishable by death. These arrests and killings took place without trial.

In their statement, the residents stressed the need to urge the Sudanese government and the leadership of the armed forces to stop these ethnically motivated arrests and torture and to investigate the causes of the deaths.

The statement adds, “We hold you responsible for all these violations and the suffering we have endured. We call on the Human Rights Commission and organizations combating torture and enforced disappearances to intervene immediately, investigate, and release the detainees.”

The newspaper (Asharq Al-Awsat) reported that eyewitnesses stated that special forces and other Muslim Brotherhood brigades had committed widespread violations based on ethnic considerations in Singa, Abu Hajar, Wadi Al-Nil, Dar Aqil, as well as in their previous violations against citizens in Dinder, Suki, Kamrab, and Wadi Al-Is. These actions were carried out under the pretext of cooperation and coexistence with the Rapid Support Forces.
