Russian Attacks Leave 370,000 Ukrainians Without Power as Poland Scrambles Fighter Jets

Russian drone attacks on Ukrainian regions left approximately 370,000 people without electricity and injured at least seven, according to Ukrainian officials.

Regional Governor Roman Romaniuk said on Telegram that Russian drone attacks on Ukraine’s Volyn region, which borders Poland, had cut power to 370,000 people. The strikes also hit a facility with foreign investment and injured two people.

Ukraine’s National Police said on Telegram that five other people were injured when drones struck a residential building in Uman, central Ukraine.

DTEK, Ukraine’s largest private energy provider, said on X that emergency power cuts had been introduced in the capital, Kyiv, during the Russian attacks.

Meanwhile, the Polish armed forces said on X that Poland, a member of the European Union and NATO, had scrambled fighter jets to protect its airspace during Russia’s attacks on Ukraine. They later said no airspace violation had been detected.

Ukrainian energy facilities have repeatedly come under Russian attack since the war began, damaging electricity networks and disrupting supplies in various parts of the country.

Ukraine, meanwhile, has been attacking Russian oil refineries. However, the United States opposes these strikes because of their impact on global prices.
