Its effects are no less than bombing Palestinian hospitals… Saied speaks about the corruption of the Brotherhood in Tunisia

Tunisian President Kais Saied continues his battle against the corruption of the Muslim Brotherhood, whose tentacles have reached all areas and remain entrenched within government agencies and institutions, after he dried up their sources from the political and parliamentary scene. In his latest statements, he affirmed that corruption has eaten away at the country.

He said, “When officials who are involved are arrested, they say they are innocent,” in reference to the criticisms that accompany decisions taken against members and leaders of the Brotherhood.

President Saied explained that it is not possible to continue managing the state with legislation that “the people revolt against, in addition to the fact that this corruption cannot continue,” pointing out that “legislative texts are tailored to serve lobbies,” according to his expression.

Commenting on the hindrance of several projects in various parts of the country, despite the allocation of funds, Saied accused certain entities – without naming them – of being complicit with lobbies in causing these delays. However, he said that the country “needs a legislative revolution to purify it and expel the lobbies from government facilities,” adding that “the effects of corruption in Tunisian hospitals are no less than the effects of bombing hospitals in Palestine.”

According to President Saied, despite funds being allocated to address these situations, there are hospitals suffering from the most basic health conditions.

Kais Saied spoke about billions of dollars allocated to complete several projects, but there is no trace of them, saying, “Where did these billions go? When we talk about those billions, they say they are innocent.”

It is worth noting that following the fall of the regime of former President Zine El Abidine Ben Ali in 2011, and after the Muslim Brotherhood‘s accession to power and gaining control of all state institutions, a decree known as the “General Legislative Amnesty” was issued on February 19 of the same year, through which around 7,000 employees were appointed in government institutions, most of them affiliated with the Muslim Brotherhood and its supporters. The organization systematically infiltrated security agencies and all public sectors through its elements and loyalists without fulfilling the complete job requirements, in an attempt to take control of all matters in the country.

In September 2019, Zubeir Al-Shuhudi, a resigned Muslim Brotherhood leader from Ennahdha, described the movement‘s president, Rached Ghannouchi, and his family as a “corrupt and corrupt class,” revealing many facts about the movement, which spun its spiderweb threads on the joints of the Tunisian state and drained its resources for the benefit of its enlarged treasuries.

Thus, the Ennahdha movement faces political and legal siege due to cases of forgery in academic qualifications that provide the opportunity to employ its elements and supporters in state institutions.
