Suspect Arrested in Stabbing of Bollywood Star Saif Ali Khan

Indian police announced that a man believed to be a Bangladeshi citizen was arrested on Sunday in Mumbai. He is the prime suspect in the stabbing of Bollywood star Saif Ali Khan.

The attack, which took place on Thursday, has sent shockwaves through Bollywood, the hub of India’s film industry, and the residents of Mumbai, with many calling for enhanced security measures.

Dixit Gedam, Deputy Commissioner of Police, stated during a press conference, “Preliminary evidence suggests that the suspect is a Bangladeshi citizen who changed his name after entering India illegally.”

The suspect, arrested in the suburbs of Mumbai, had been using the name Vijay Das, but it is believed his real name is Mohammad Sharif Islam Shah Zed. He had been working for a home management services agency since arriving in Mumbai about five or six months ago.

Saif Ali Khan, aged 54, sustained serious injuries when an unidentified individual broke into his family home in Mumbai early Thursday morning. The actor was stabbed multiple times in different areas of his body.

At the time of the incident, Khan was with his wife, Kareena Kapoor Khan, 44, and their two children, Taimur (7 years old) and Jeh (3 years old), who were unharmed in the attack.

According to the Mumbai Police statement, the attacker broke into Khan’s house and assaulted his domestic helper. When the actor intervened to defuse the situation, he was stabbed six times in sensitive areas near his spine and neck.
