The reasons for choosing the Emirates as the mission of the planet Mars
As the world anxiously awaits the watershed moments that will determine the fate of the Mission of Hope Probe, the question arises : why choose the mission for Mars?
The answer to this question includes scientific details related to the UAE’s desire to contribute strongly to the scientific field in the space field, and it also has details related to the desire to make the contribution of the wide and wide gate, choosing a difficult task, and above all, this mission will have positive repercussions for future Humanity.
First : the future of humanity
The mission aims to help scientists better understand the causes of the transformation of Mars from a planet similar to that of Earth into a planet with difficult terrain, which would help to understand the atmosphere of Mars, which will help us to better understand the planet Earth and other planets, and hence the investigation of Opportunities to Live in Outer Space and Build Human Settlements on Other Planets, and this is of course an important goal for the future of humanity.
Second : science
There are many mysterious questions about the planet Mars, which previous scientific missions could not answer, and therefore the choice of Mars as the target of the Emirati mission, one of their justifications was to answer these questions by reaching a deeper understanding of climate change in the Red Planet, and the study of the impact of atmospheric conditions is based on the leakage rates of oxygen and hydrogen and major water components, the study of climate change as one of the causes of the erosion of the planet’s atmosphere; and the study of the movement of dust and water in the atmosphere of the planet Mars.
These scientific goals came as a reflection to lead the direction of the UAE, to make the mission unique and aim for new and significant explorations, and to include outstanding scientific contributions to the global space science community, and to have tangible effects on humanity, and include the establishment of a sustainable program in the UAE for space exploration and for Emirati scientists and engineers to contribute to her development.
Third : the challenge
If the mission is successful and the ”Hope” probe manages to enter Mars orbit on February 9, the UAE will be the fifth country in human history to reach the Red Planet, noting that only two countries were able to reach their orbit or surface from their first space experience exploring the planet, and this is a great challenge that gives the mission great importance.
If the mission is successful, the probe will send more than 1,000 gigabytes of new data to Mars, which will be deposited in a scientific data center in the UAE via several receiving earth stations around the world, and the scientific team of the project index and analyze this data which will be available to humanity, for the first time, to then be shared for free with the scientific community interested in the science of Mars around the world in order to serve human knowledge.
