“20 Times the Earth”… NASA reveals massive solar hole
NASA, the space agency, has unveiled an image documenting a giant hole in the sun’s atmosphere.
The agency explained that the size of the hole exceeds 5 times the diameter of Jupiter and is more than 20 times the size of the Earth.
This hole allows powerful solar winds to pass through, potentially negatively impacting the entire solar system.
Scientists have named this hole the “Coronal Hole,” and it is currently located away from the Earth, although it was previously close to the equator.
The proximity of the hole to the equator caused the release of a massive stream of particles, resulting in a mild solar storm.
NASA had warned of a new solar storm hitting the Earth at the end of last November, causing disruptions in radio signals and the GPS satellite navigation system.
During the same period, the Earth also experienced a relatively strong magnetic storm, from November 21 to 26, earning a K-4 classification in the magnetic storm intensity rating.
