Extra hours of sleep on weekends “protect your heart”

A recent study has found that getting extra hours of sleep during the weekend can reduce the risk of heart and cardiovascular diseases.

Researchers at Nanjing Medical University in China examined data from 3400 individuals, studying the impact of sleep patterns on their health.

Experts discovered that employees who did not get enough sleep during working days but compensated by sleeping extra hours during their weekends had a 63% reduced chance of experiencing heart attacks.

On the other hand, the study concluded that employees who did not compensate for lost sleep during their weekends had an increased risk of heart and cardiovascular diseases.

The positive results of this study support previous findings that indicated getting an extra two hours of sleep during the weekend can prevent individuals from suffering from obesity and depression.
