Kyiv Under Russian Fire: Drone and Missile Strikes

More than ten explosions were heard across Kyiv early Monday morning as authorities issued a missile attack warning.

Since the outbreak of the war more than four years ago, Russia has regularly carried out missile and drone strikes against Ukraine.

On Telegram, Tymur Tkachenko, head of Kyiv’s Military Administration, stated that “the enemy is attacking with ballistic missiles.”

Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko reported that Ukraine’s air defense systems had been activated by the military and urged residents to remain inside bomb shelters.

In recent weeks, Ukraine has also intensified its long-range drone operations inside Russian territory, targeting energy infrastructure and military facilities.

Meanwhile, a Ukrainian strike on Monday caused a power outage in the city of Sevastopol, located on the Crimean Peninsula, which was annexed by Russia, according to Mikhail Razvozhayev, the Moscow-appointed governor of the city.

In a post published on Telegram, Razvozhayev wrote: “Following an enemy attack on energy infrastructure near Sevastopol, electricity was temporarily cut off across our city.”

On Saturday, the President of the United States held a 90-minute telephone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin and offered assistance in bringing the war in Ukraine to an end.

The U.S. President is scheduled to meet Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Wednesday on the sidelines of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) summit to be held in Turkey.
