An Egyptian woman threw her daughter from the second floor for the “strangest reason”
The public prosecution in Dakahlia, north of Cairo, decided to detain a woman for 4 days pending investigation into the charge of attempting to murder her daughter by throwing her from the second floor because of her “excessive crying.”
The girl, Makkah Ahmed (3 years old), was transferred to Al-Sinbellawain General Hospital in critical condition. Upon medical examination, it was revealed that she had suffered severe fractures in her left leg in the thigh area, a deep wound on her head, and doctors suspected criminal intent, so they informed the police.
Officers from the Sinbellawain Police Station attended and found that the girl’s aunt was with her. Initially, when questioned, she claimed that the girl had fallen from a height, but under pressure, she accused the mother of throwing her from the balcony of their second-floor home due to her anger over the continuous crying of the child.
The police went to the mother’s house and arrested her. During questioning, she admitted to committing the crime because she couldn’t bear her daughter’s crying, especially since she was going through “difficult circumstances during this period,” according to a security source cited by “Sky News Arabia.”
Further examination of the mother’s criminal record revealed that she had previously been accused in a case of indecent acts and another of embezzlement. The investigations also revealed that she had been separated from the father of the child for some time.
Sherif Makin, the Ministry of Health’s representative in Dakahlia, stated that the child is currently being kept under observation in the pediatric care department at Al-Sinbellawain General Hospital, and her overall condition is stable.
He explained that “doctors, in general, have the task of receiving any medical cases and providing healthcare services to them regardless of the causes of their injuries. However, when there is suspicion of a criminal motive, the police are notified as a precautionary legal measure.”
Makin added that “the girl’s companion initially claimed that she had fallen from a height, but the doctors suspected that a criminal act might be behind the girl’s injury, so they informed the police unit present at the hospital, who in turn notified the Sinbellawain Police Station.
