Bourita praised Muscat’s support for Morocco’s sovereignty about Moroccan Sahara


Via videoconference tool, Morocco’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates Nasser Bourita held discussions, On Tuesday, with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Oman, Badr bin Hamad bin Hamood al-Busaidi.

A foreign ministry statement reported that the discussions came in harmony with the brotherly bilateral ties, regular consultation and political coordination. In this context, Bourita greeted Muscat’s firm position in the support of the kingdom’s sovereignty about its Moroccan Sahara region and the union of its territories, and also the procedures followed to preserve its security and sovereignty.

Bourita also applauded the Sultanate’s continued leading and stable role in the region, thanks to the leadership of Sultan Haitham bin Tariq al-Said, and his efforts to solve disagreement in several regional and international matters.

Talks about bilateral relations

The two ministers discussed bilateral ties, particularly after the gathering of the 5th Joint Moroccan-Omani Commission in Muscat in January. They stated that they want to hold the next talks in the kingdom after improving the situation of the coronavirus pandemic.

Both also discussed Arab and regional matters, and they agreed the necessity to resolve conflicts via dialogue and understanding, affirming the importance of maintaining security and stability with keeping the territorial integrity of Arab states.

Moreover, Busaidi greatly applauded the wise policy of King Mohammed VI and his leading role in protecting Arab and Islamic issues, particularly that of the Palestinians.
