US Reveals Truth Behind Oil Tanker Explosion Involving Sea Mines in the Strait of Hormuz

The US Central Command revealed on Monday the truth behind the explosion of an oil tanker that was reportedly caused by a sea mine in the Strait of Hormuz.

In a statement, US Central Command said: “The Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps claims that a Panama-flagged oil tanker recently struck a sea mine in the Strait of Hormuz. This claim is false.”

It explained that “the Panama-flagged oil tanker El Gaia was struck by an Iranian missile last month, which rendered it inoperable.”

Over the weekend, “Iran targeted the tanker again with a drone while it was anchored in waters off the coast of Oman,” according to the statement.

Iran Seeks a Deal

On Monday evening, US President Donald Trump said that Iran wants to reach a deal and that he would decide whether Washington would engage in the effort.

Trump wrote on his social media platform, Truth Social, that “failed Iran wants to make a deal, and very quickly. I will decide whether the United States chooses to engage in it or not, an option we are open to.”

Iran continues to restrict navigation through the Strait of Hormuz, through which one-fifth of the world’s oil and liquefied natural gas exports would normally pass. The United States responded to Tehran’s move by imposing a blockade on Iranian ports.

The US war against Iran has entered its seventh month, with no end in sight in the near term.
